Weighing in on the Controversy

CAN LEGGINGS BE WORN AS PANTS, OR CAN’T THEY?

I’ve seen as much heated debate about this topic on every major social media outlet as I have about SOPA, ObamaCare, and abortion.  (This does not speak well of our nation’s priorities.  Or maybe it doesn’t speak well of my friends?  No, that can’t be it…)

As far as I can tell there are two types of people in the world.  Those who believe leggings can be worn as pants, and those who don’t.  And I am about to cast my vote publicly.

Right here, right now.

Wait for it…

Leggings CAN be worn as pants.*

*provided that all the junk in the trunk is covered by some kind of shirt and/or cardigan. 

Go ahead.  Send me your impassioned objections.  I can handle it.

Allow me to demonstrate.

In sum,

As long as you are wearing leggings. Did you hear me? AS LONG AS YOU ARE WEARING LEGGINGS.

When I was in college and the leggings under skirts & shorts thing started sneaking back into mainstream fashion, I said “I will NEVER do that.”

And now I wear them as pants.

It’s a slippery slope.

    I agree with you. As long as your behind is covered then it’s okay. I don’t like wearing black leggings with brown boots though. That’s my question ‘how do you feel about brown and black being worn together?’

      I actually like it a lot of the time.  Depends on which pieces and the shades of each color, but as a general rule, I’m for it!

      Oh, please NEVER black & brown together.  It’s as heinous as pink & red. Clashy, not classy!

    Let me just say, “EW” to the leggings that reveal WAY too much of everything!  My favorite quote as of late:  “Just because it’s stretchy doesn’t mean it fits!”

    If your bum is covered by a long shirt or a dress then they are not being worn as pants. Being worn as pants means literally the same way you would wear a pair of jeans. Thus, you do not wear them as pants.
